Task 1

Below are two of the abilities I should aim to acquire during this course as a Computing student:

1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and theories relating to computing and computer applications.
As a computing student I strongly feel that one should be able to present the knowledge they possess well. Failing to do so will certainly shatter the dreams of building any strong career they have, regardless of how good they are. After all, no matter where we go, people are only going to judge us by the qualities that we are able to expose. All the knowledge and understanding that I will be gaining during my course will be of no use if I am not able to demonstrate them because IT is a technical field and all the works are done practically. Being able to convert knowledge and understanding into practice is major aspect of this field. Thus, ability of demonstrating the theoretical knowledge is a must.

2. Work as a development team member, recognizing the different roles within a team and different ways of organizing teams.
Leadership quality is certainly one of the important things one must possess in every field. While working as a group, we must be able to properly analyze what each person is good at. There’s a saying “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” (Kelly, 2004). Likewise, we must be able to organize teams in a good manner and guide them but in the same process, one should not forget their own responsibility. If we can’t organize teams well, we are sure to fail ultimately. There are numerous instances of people with less educational qualifications that are more successful than the ones with more qualifications. It is because of the leadership qualities they have.
